Noto Kufi Arabic brings the Noto project's dependable-coverage approach to a simplified, geometric Kufi design. It's built with larger sizes in mind — headlines and display text — rather than dense body copy.
About Noto Kufi Arabic
Noto Kufi Arabic is the Kufi member of Google's Noto collection, added to Google Fonts in 2020. Google describes it as a simplified, unmodulated Kufi design intended mainly for larger sizes. Its glyph set is smaller than its siblings', at 733 glyphs against more than 1,500 in Noto Sans and Noto Naskh, and it comes in nine weights from Thin to Black.
A more restrained, formal take on Kufic geometry than Reem Kufi, with less contemporary flourish — useful when a project wants Kufic's angular character without it reading as trendy or overly modern.

How Noto Kufi Arabic compares
Compared with Reem Kufi, which deliberately evokes early Qur'anic Kufic, Noto Kufi is cleaner and more contemporary: Kufi structure without the historical flavour. Against Cairo, another Kufi-influenced design, it is more strictly geometric, while Cairo was also made to work in body text. Choose Noto Kufi when you want a clean geometric headline face with a full range of weights.
Tips for using Noto Kufi Arabic
Keep Noto Kufi for headlines, titles, posters and signage; at small body sizes a Naskh or sans design reads more easily. Nine weights let you build a whole heading scale from one family. Because its character set is aimed at display use, check fully vocalised text in the preview above before you rely on it.
